I normally recommend that one abstain from supplements while fasting, simply because I feel fasting is a good time for the body to be 'left alone' and allowed to do what it does best ... detoxify, cleanse and heal. If, however, you would like to take supplements, the best is to stick to a multivitamin, and to do it in liquid form. A tablet on an empty stomach is a recipe for misery and discomfort.
Trust me, I did it and it is NO fun at all! The only other 'supplement' that can help is one that can help to empty the colon... a herbal laxative like Herbs & Prunes would be fine. But stay away from pills, is my recommendation. If you are healthy overall, just stick with water and give your body a break to surprise and amaze you!

Great, thank you. I think my health is pretty good at the moment and i've been eating just fruit and veg to prep for the fast so must have loaded up of vitamins :-) One of the reasons I'm doing this is because I don't have a clue what my body's baseline is and want to try and keep things as natural as possible. Thanks fo ryour advice x
i'm 5'9'' and 280lbs. i want to loose 100lbs, and i need something to kickstart me so i can exercise and start with a clean slate. I've done three day detox fasting before and a week long juice fast but never tried a water fast. To be honest i didn't think it was really possible but after reading a lot on here and a few other sites i'm very excited by the benefits. day one's been ok :-)

I'm starting a water fast tomorrow. Are there any supplements that would be beneficial to take? I read about only taking liquid supplements, where can i get those froma nd what should I be looking for?
Thanks,

I just found an article on kelp pills, and how they even out your metaboism, and reduce water weight. I'm wondering if they would be safe to take while on a water fast. They seem to have a lot of salt in them, so worried they may cause an imbalance. Has anyone had any experience, or heard of these?
